Target group

Single homeless people, including ex-offenders and those with support needs around mental health issues. No local connection required.

Will not accept

Schedule 1 offenders and arsonists.

Referral agencies

Accept self referrals and referrals from any agency.

Referral procedure

Phone Mon-Fri 8am-10.30am for application form, completed by applicant and referral agency before interview. Require proof of ID.

Staffing and support ^ back to top

Support services

Approx 40 full time staff, plus volunteers, 24 hour waking cover. Keywork system (7-9 residents per worker), keywork meetings at least fortnightly. Action plans with agreed outcomes, reviewed as required. Staff provide different levels of support according to individual need around personal and life skills development, training for employment, and substance abuse.

Health services

Regular sessions by visiting nurse, mental health and drugs workers, and chiropodist. Alcohol, drugs and mental health specialists on staff team.

Access to move-on

Staff give advice on move-on options. 2 YMCA move-on projects: for 8 people with physical/mental health issues, and for 10 residents in full time education, employment or training. 10 local authority and 10 housing association nominations.

House rules and tenure

Assured shorthold tenancy. No alcohol or smoking allowed on the premises.

Resident access

Residents must be in between 11pm-7am Sun-Thurs, 1am-7am Fri/Sat.


In communal lounge only between 10am-4pm.

User participation

Monthly residents' meetings. Residents' committee.

20 of the rooms are assigned to residents with no or very low support needs ('semi-independent living'), and 36 rooms are for people with higher support needs.
