Arsonists. Men already excluded from other Midland Heart projects.

How to get in ^ back to top

Referral agencies

Accept self referrals (phone 0121 753 1386 or call in at Hanwood House, Leopold Street, Highgate, Birmingham B12 0UL) and referrals from any agency via Homeless Single Point of Access. Accept referrals from prisons.

Referral procedure

Call in at Midland Heart's Homeless Services Centre Mon-Weds, Fri 10am-6pm, Thurs 10am-5pm or phone 24 hours daily. Interview and assessment may be face to face, details may be taken by phone or referral form may be forwarded from eg Birmingham City Council Neighbourhood Office. Separate needs and risk assessment. New residents must make a claim for housing benefit on next working day. Initial referral of 28 days can be extended by 3 months subject to reassessment.

Support services

6 full time and 3 part time staff, 24 hour waking cover. Keywork system with weekly meetings. Compulsory support plan drawn up after needs assessment with support worker which covers benefits, budgeting and referrals to external training and educational agencies. All residents given a Leisure Card for access to leisure and sports facilities in Birmingham.

Access to move-on

Staff help residents to identify appropriate move-on accommodation and complete application forms. 12 on-site move-on flats. Offer follow-up support (refer to Midland Heart' Tenancy Sustainment Team if long term support required).
