Referral agencies

Accept self referrals and referrals from any agency.

Referral procedure

Call in at Midland Heart's Homeless Services Centre Mon-Weds, Fri 10am-6pm, Thurs 10am-2pm or phone daily 24 hours. Interview and assessment may be face to face, details may be taken by phone or referral form may be forwarded from eg Birmingham City Council Neighbourhood Office. New residents must make a claim for housing benefit on next working day. Initial referral of 28 days can be extended by 3 months subject to reassessment by Homeless Single Point of Access.

Support services

6 full time, 3 part time staff, 24 hour waking cover. Compulsory keywork system (3-4 residents per worker), with weekly meetings. Action plans with agreed outcomes, reviewed every month. Staff provide practical and emotional support around issues such as life skills, advocacy, benefits, health, accessing external support agencies and help with moving towards independent living.

Access to move-on

Move on support provided by Midland Heart's Tenancy Support Team.

House rules and tenure

Written house rules. Alcohol and smoking allowed in own rooms only. Licence agreement.

24 hour access, no restrictions.

10am-11pm. Maximum 2 guests (2 female or 1 male/1 female) per resident. No overnight guests.

Monthly residents' meetings.
